The research interests are on the interrelations (complementing and conflicting) of the urban development and ecosystem conservation. My study of social-ecological system approach brings together the two decades of understanding the various aspects of urban lakes with respect to urban planning, design, governance, management and sustainability. The interest on the ‘collective action’ or in other words, ‘governance’ is at the core of this. The aspiration for equilibrium between applied and theoretical science to have better understanding of the society shall remain continuum. The fact that there is research in every project conceived in practice as well as in teaching makes the research experience more wholistic. Besides, engaging in multi-disciplinary as well as trans-disciplinary activities is fun and my forte.
